Forms are not the objective; they are vehicles. There are a lot of san sau, drills, and pad works in between. Explore the syllabus to understand the progression and techniques taught at Tse Kung Fu Academy.

Our classes are designed for all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. We embrased small class, hand by hand training, and personal attention to ensure that each student receives the guidance they need to progress at their own pace. We focus on practical self-defense techniques, traditional forms, and physical conditioning.

Syllabus Core

🟢 Beginner Level

Objective: Learn fundamental movements, coordination, and conditioning.

  • 五輪馬 – Five Wheel Horse Stance
    Cantonese: ńgh lèuhn máh (Ng Lun Ma)
    A foot work exercise to develop balance and stability. It involves shifting weight between the legs while maintaining a low stance.
  • 五輪拳 – Five Wheel Fist
    Cantonese: ńgh lèuhn kyùhn (Ng Lun Kyun)
    A basic punching technique that emphasizes proper alignment and body mechanics. It involves a series of punches delivered in a circular motion.

🟡 Foundation Level

Objective: Build strong foundational power (Long Bridge Power) and introduce basic combat techniques.

  • 小十字拳 – Small Cross Fist
    Cantonese: síu sahp jih kyùhn (Siu Sap Ji Kyun)
  • 小梅花拳 – Small Plum Blossom Fist
    Cantonese: síu mòuh fàa kyùhn (Siu Miu Fa Kyun)

🔴 Intermediate Level

Objective: One-to-one and multiple attacker combat. Improve long power and begin short power.

  • 車斬滾 – Sweeping Rolling Strike
    Cantonese: chē jáam gwán (Che Jaam Gwan)
  • 十字扣打 – Cross Trap and Strike
    Cantonese: sahp jih kau dáa (Sap Ji Kau Da)
  • 雙頭棍 – Double-Headed Staff
    Cantonese: sēung tàuh gwan (Seung Tau Gwan)
  • 單刀 – Single Broadsword
    Cantonese: dāan dōu (Daan Dou)

⚫ Advanced Level

Objective: Refine long and short power. Master multiple-opponent combat.

  • 脫戰拳 – Breakaway Combat Fist
    Cantonese: tyut jin kyùhn (Tyut Jin Kyun)
  • 金豹平肘拳 – Golden Leopard Level Elbow Fist
    Cantonese: gām paau pìhng jáu kyùhn (Gam Paau Ping Jau Kyun)
  • 佛家掌 – Buddhist Palm
    Cantonese: fàht gā jéung (Fat Gaa Jeung)
  • 單頭棍 – Single-End Staff
    Cantonese: dāan tàuh gwan (Daan Tau Gwan)

Objective: Explore additional forms and techniques to enhance skills and understanding.

  • 梅花槍 – Plum Blossom Spear
    Cantonese: mòuh fàa chèung (Miu Fa Cheung)
  • 白模拳 – White Imitation Fist
    Cantonese: baahk mòuh kyùhn (Baak Mou Kyun)
  • 行者棒 – Wanderer’s Staff
    Cantonese: hàhng jé páang (Hang Je Paang)
  • 鞭橋 – Whipping Bridge
    Cantonese: bīn kìuh (Bin Kiu)
  • 春秋大刀 – Spring-Autumn Kwan Dao
    Cantonese: chēun chāu daaih dōu (Cheun Chau Daai Dou)
  • 木人樁 – Wooden Dummy
    Cantonese: muhk yàhn jōng (Muk Yan Jong)
